Day 5: officially a Nigerian Youth Corper

Swearing-in day!!!!!

Today was pretty straightforward you know, get sworn in and start the Corper life.

My day started with me meeting a patient from last night entering the clinic. I was just about to take a bath when he strolled in. Well, I told him to take a bed as all he clearly needed was bed rest to avoid the morning drills.

After getting ready for the day the clinic was in full swing with patients left right and center. From those avoiding the days formalities (swearing-in), to genuine complaints. We got ready for the day, all kitted in out official uniforms and with emergency supplies ready...at least, the best we could get available.

It's like they rang the bell at some point because back to back we received people and then gbam!!!! Asthmatic attack became the reigning thing. I mean, you know you're asthmatic and you don't bring your inhaler to the parade ground or you don't bring your drugs or take your drugs! Who is playing with you??? Please be guided dears, thank you.

We had a doctor from the teaching hospital today too (did I tell you we had someone yesterday?)...you know, to help with difficult cases and assist us.

Ah! During the ceremony Mini worked sha!!!!  Someone lost consciousness today, well 2 ladies today (at different times). Honestly it was scary because it took a bit for them to come around.

Fubsy and Thomas came back to meet work and just dove right into it.

What else happened? Yes: socials has started!!! I'm on night duty but I asked Fubsy and Thomas to cover me for at 50 minutes. I went to Jamaica hall to watch them. Well, I only watched Platoon 1 act and dance. The dance was more captivating. I sat at the back sha, with Ore. As for the drama, maybe they should give them mics to use. The soundtracks were nice sha.

I came back to meet Fubsy literally ready for bed. Everyone was chilling in the clinic. I think everybody went for socials. Fun first, issues later.

Ore says she slept at socials after left. Even Hajia said it was boring, except when platoon 3 danced. Guys, was it boring?

See eh, it's about 20mins to 12 and everyone is asleep. We just finished attending to someone having an allergic reaction. We've attended to at least 4 people before him.
Abeg no emergencies again, thank you.
What I have been doing a lot lately (exeat letters)

Our meal at Mami Market...guess mine!

Day 40: all join, na our papa land

Happy new year!!!!! Yessir! I've been on a break with this blog. It's been one big ride with this service thing oh because a lot of us left Ebonyi state for the holidays after showing up at our PPA. Now we are back or in transit back to really serve our Fatherland. Me? So....I redeployed!!! To FCT-Abuja. Yes, I did. Let's not discuss about my reasons but I did. I'll miss my Ebonyi family but honestly, na earth so  we go still dey communicate. I came into Abuja and went to start my post-redeployment procedure. I've made journeys to the secretariat and I'm almost done...or so I think. I have a new state code but I'm yet to get my PPA. You won't believe it!!!! I saw Lambert and I've seen another girl from Ebonyi camp...and she said there's more if us. Lol! But all na service sha. The queue here is mad, yeah, it's dissolved into one whole soup but I'm not about that pushing life. Ah! I've seen another person. loooooo...

Day 7: Jonah then Joseph

I served punishment oh!!! Today was amazing...well in the end sha. The day started with Felicity and I going for parade. Yes, I went by 5am to the parade ground. I was so clueless!!! 🤣🤦. Apparently our Muslim brothers and sisters go to pray while Christians pray on the parade ground. We had praise and worship songs and then the anthems (Nigeria and NYSC). I didn't even know that the second stanza of our nation's anthem is now referred to as "the national prayer". After that we had a talk by a platoon, I think it was on integrity...abeg don't blame me, it wasn't so interesting but the lady did well. It wasn't a long one. I was really expecting the drills and the singing that comes with it, only for me to hear that we should go. Me that doesn't know how things really go, I was even ready to go back. I hung with my platoon trying to make sure I didn't go astray. Next thing I hear that the ladies in the platoon should wait behind. We waited and ...
