Day 16: can't control me...

What's up??????

That was how I spent about an hour looking for the girl with the shoulder dislocation/pain with Dr Chris. Omo we went from OBS to Jamaica hall to Catering practicals (SAED class) to State coordinator's office!

This morning started with us having the camp director around to speak with the patient who had an asthmatic attack last night...edakun, please go home for your health sake. That really was his message. And then looking for the lady as described above.

We didn't see her oh. I sent her a text after calling her switched off phone for a while and later in the afternoon she called me when I was back in the clinic. She waited for Dr Chris and everybody is fine. She's not going homeπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

Ah another gist: Mini's phone went missing! Omo we searched for it eh. I had called him before and he didn't pick, I thought he was busy but apparently he was called out to be interviewed by a possible place of primary assignment (PPA). When he came back he asked that I call his number and this time his phone was switched off. Brethren everywhere burst! We searched, called, he was apprehensive...I was worried.
Do you have any apps on? Do we need to call and block any app? Everyone started searching.

Only for Philip to ask Fubsy (I think it was Philip) who was sitting calmly rebuking Mini for leaving his phone carelessly, if he had seen it.
Next thing Fubsy brought it out!!!! Bruh!!! We laughed eh! What a relief!!!!

We learnt to put eyes on our properties that day. I thank God that the clinic has been safe before and now but I know we must be watchful...stay guarded.

Ah! I didn't mention. So Ponmile and I practiced and performed at the talent hunt. We did Simi's love don't care...a short acapella version.

I wasn't feeling too good and I even had to take an anti-malaria IM. Aunty Ada is good: no pain!!! I had Mini follow me to the talent hunt because I started to run temperature at that time...even contemplated not going. Trust Mini, he's already brought PCM for me to swallow and swallow have I done.

Fubsy laughing after teaching us all a lesson on property handling

We don't believe it! What!!!

Better safe than sorry,

Day 40: all join, na our papa land

Happy new year!!!!! Yessir! I've been on a break with this blog. It's been one big ride with this service thing oh because a lot of us left Ebonyi state for the holidays after showing up at our PPA. Now we are back or in transit back to really serve our Fatherland. Me? So....I redeployed!!! To FCT-Abuja. Yes, I did. Let's not discuss about my reasons but I did. I'll miss my Ebonyi family but honestly, na earth so  we go still dey communicate. I came into Abuja and went to start my post-redeployment procedure. I've made journeys to the secretariat and I'm almost done...or so I think. I have a new state code but I'm yet to get my PPA. You won't believe it!!!! I saw Lambert and I've seen another girl from Ebonyi camp...and she said there's more if us. Lol! But all na service sha. The queue here is mad, yeah, it's dissolved into one whole soup but I'm not about that pushing life. Ah! I've seen another person. loooooo...

Day 5: officially a Nigerian Youth Corper

Swearing-in day!!!!! Today was pretty straightforward you know, get sworn in and start the Corper life. My day started with me meeting a patient from last night entering the clinic. I was just about to take a bath when he strolled in. Well, I told him to take a bed as all he clearly needed was bed rest to avoid the morning drills. After getting ready for the day the clinic was in full swing with patients left right and center. From those avoiding the days formalities (swearing-in), to genuine complaints. We got ready for the day, all kitted in out official uniforms and with emergency supplies ready...at least, the best we could get available. It's like they rang the bell at some point because back to back we received people and then gbam!!!! Asthmatic attack became the reigning thing. I mean, you know you're asthmatic and you don't bring your inhaler to the parade ground or you don't bring your drugs or take your drugs! Who is playing with you??? Please be guide...

Day 7: Jonah then Joseph

I served punishment oh!!! Today was amazing...well in the end sha. The day started with Felicity and I going for parade. Yes, I went by 5am to the parade ground. I was so clueless!!! 🀣🀦. Apparently our Muslim brothers and sisters go to pray while Christians pray on the parade ground. We had praise and worship songs and then the anthems (Nigeria and NYSC). I didn't even know that the second stanza of our nation's anthem is now referred to as "the national prayer". After that we had a talk by a platoon, I think it was on integrity...abeg don't blame me, it wasn't so interesting but the lady did well. It wasn't a long one. I was really expecting the drills and the singing that comes with it, only for me to hear that we should go. Me that doesn't know how things really go, I was even ready to go back. I hung with my platoon trying to make sure I didn't go astray. Next thing I hear that the ladies in the platoon should wait behind. We waited and ...
